A NEW CREATIVE COMMUNITY COURTYARD EMERGES.

Tucked away, nestled in the heart of Walnut Hills, 5 Points Alley is a central meeting point for all that the neighborhood has to offer. It is our community courtyard, a place where local residents, businesses & visitors come together to form friendships, share smiles, and spark connections.

We designed and programmed 5 Points Alley with intentionality and respect for our shared goal of creating a black-forward community space where joyful experiences thrive and all who enter feel a sense of belonging.

Our work returning 5 Points Alley to the community and our new role managing and programming the space:

Cincy Nice is proud to call Walnut Hills our home base. In the depths of the summer of 2020’s social and physical distancing blues, we found ourselves needing to assemble (in a COVID-safe way) our collective to organize Our Tables. We found ourselves in the little alley space just behind our office.

At the time, 5 Points Alley had become a bit neglected—full of weeds and empty of people. We kept finding ourselves drawn back to that space. More and more, our meetings switched from virtual to outside to almost always being held on those granite benches from safe distances amongst the weeds.

We decided this hidden space has a magic to it. We decided that we needed to do something to set it free.

Slowly but surely we started pulling weeds and planting flowers. Removing rotten structures and building new ones (check out that new stage!) And mulching. And painting. And generally, a whole lot of sweating.

In just two months, 5 Points Alley started to sparkle again.

We didn’t do it alone. Some serious THANK YOUS:

Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation and its board for imagining and championing 5 Points Alley and trusting us to steward the space into this next phase.

Our community neighbors and friends—

Sam & the crew at Fireside Pizza who supplied the tables, pizza fuel, and lots of laughs with comedy nights.

Stu & the crew at Comfort Station who helped us return light to the space and provided many needed cold refreshments to keep us all going.

Andrew & the crew at Gomez Salsa for yummy tacos and sharing your building wall for public WI-FI.

SKT Ceramics, the Dillard Center, and Race Refrigeration for being willing and excited partners.

SB Landscaping for helping us get it all together and Felipe Construction for crafting us a new stage.

Sediment Design for donating your time and talent to bring the brand to life.

Many, many volunteers who showed up in the heat to help with clean ups.

Our picnic table artists for their beautiful and vibrant artwork.

Our programming partners who created the great vibes.

And YOU. Thanks for showing up, for bringing your smiles, for believing in 5 Points Alley, and sharing in community.

Lots more work, progress, fundraising, and community building to come. But for now…. Walnut Hills, this is for you!

Hope to see you soon at The Points :)
